Farmland Investments: Successful Farm Management in Action

At LandFund Partners, farm management goes beyond acreage. We build strong relationships. We drive progress. We care for the land with intention and expertise. Successful farmland investments start on the ground, with internal farm managers who know the people and the property.

Steven Ussery, one of our farm managers, brings this approach to life across Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. He grew up in agriculture and studied business. Today, he blends both to guide our farms toward greater productivity and long-term value.

Steven works closely on a daily basis with the farmers that pay rent to lease LandFund's high-quality farmland. He coordinates irrigation upgrades, oversees maintenance projects, and helps farmers explore the introduction of regenerative practices like cover cropping. He listens, offers solutions, and responds to their needs in real-time. His presence in the field makes a difference. Steven strives to help each farm perform better, which raises yields, improves soil health, and builds stronger farmer relationships.

Steven understands the farming lifestyle because he lived it. He knows how to speak a farmer’s language, and that trust creates lasting partnerships.

“Our role is to support farmers,” Steven says. “That might mean improving infrastructure, solving maintenance issues, or helping with a regenerative shift.” His work seeks to set up every acre for success.

One of the particular value-add improvements that Steven helps oversee are the installation of grain bins. After a recent acquisition in Arkansas, Steven oversaw a grain bin upgrade that cut harvest wait times and gave farmers flexibility to sell when market prices peaked. It’s a simple change that added real value.

Stewardship drives Steven’s work. “It’s never just about placing a farmer on the land,” he says. “It’s about asking how we can make the land better.”

At LandFund Partners, we strive to help farmers and soil health. When the land improves, so does the investment. Strong management creates strong farmland performance, season after season.
